Tiffany Haddish’s parents are Tsihaye Reda Haddish, an Eritrean Jewish father, and Leola, an African-American mother who practised the Jehovah’s Witness faith. Tiffany, born in 1979, is their only child. 

However, her parents weren’t consistently involved in her life, leading her to spend periods in foster care and even face homelessness.

While Tiffany’s parents may not be widely recognized, they gained attention through their daughter’s achievements as a renowned comedian and actress.

Tiffany Haddish, the second African-American woman to secure the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album, rose to fame with roles in movies like “Girls Trip” (2018), “Like a Boss” (2020), and “The Last O.G.” (2019).

In December 1979, at the age of 25, Tsihaye and his then-wife Leola welcomed Tiffany into the world. Unfortunately, when Tiffany was only 3 years old in 1982, Tsihaye decided to leave, distancing himself from both Tiffany and her mother. 

The reunion took place when Tiffany turned 27, orchestrated by her ex-husband, William Stewart. Tsihaye played a significant role in Tiffany’s 2008 wedding to Stewart, walking her down the aisle.

Tiffany disclosed that her father stayed with her for a period, during which she took care of him. However, he left and returned later, leaving Tiffany uncertain about reestablishing their relationship.

Tragically, Tsihaye passed away on May 11, 2017, in Chico, Butte County, California, at the age of 63, succumbing to heart failure and pneumonia.

Leola Wright, the mother of the renowned comedian Tiffany Haddish, is of African-American descent. Although specific details about her date of birth and early life remain elusive, it is known that she entered into a second marriage after the end of her first.

This second marriage resulted in Tiffany gaining a stepfather two half-sisters and two half-brothers. However, the course of this marriage took a dark turn when it was revealed that Leola’s then-husband allegedly tampered with the brakes of her car, intending to cause a fatal accident to claim life insurance policies for both Leola and her children.

Fortunately, on the day of the tampering, Leola had left the house without her children, averting the planned tragedy. While the accident was avoided, it left Leola with severe brain damage, leading to the onset of schizophrenia. This mental disorder significantly affected Leola, resulting in episodes of aggression and abuse.

Despite challenges in her relationship with her mother, Haddish expressed deep love and took significant steps to provide support. 

She brought her mother out of a mental facility, secured her home, and expressed her commitment to ensuring her mother received the care she deserved.

Tiffany’s profound affection for her parents is evident, even though their presence in her life was not constant. Her father’s Eritrean background played a crucial role in shaping her experiences, and her ongoing support for her mother, diagnosed with schizophrenia, reflects a strong sense of familial commitment.
